Bryce Shannon is an intern at Manchester State Forest and a senior Natural Resources Management major at Central Carolina Technical College.
He’s interested in a career in natural resources because “my father was a big truck driver for most of his life and riding with him got me into it. I’ve always been very much into nature and biology.”
When asked about his favorite part of the internship, Bryce said, “I’ve learned a lot, which is always great! I love being able to work outdoors, not trapped in four walls.”
Hunter Moyd is an intern at Sand Hills State Forest and a senior at Clemson University studying Forest Resource Management.
He became interested in a forestry career because of “family and family friends and a love for the outdoors.”
His favorite part about the internship is “being able to be outdoors all day.”
Jacob Stuckey is an intern at Wee Tee State Forest and a senior Forestry major at Clemson University.
He became interested in forestry as a career because “forestry is a family business for me.” Jacob’s uncle is Pete Stuckey.
His favorite part of the internship is “the different day-to-day things. One day is never the same as the last.”
Jerry Sanders is an intern at Harbison State Forest and a senior Forest Resource Management major at Clemson University.
He became interested in a forestry career because, “I grew up hunting and fishing and playing in the woods. I knew I wanted to do something with the outdoors. After taking a Forestry class in high school, I knew it was what I wanted to pursue.”
His favorite part of the internship is “getting to learn more about the forestry industry and what goes into it.”
Justin Nonnemacher is an FIA intern and recent graduate of the forestry program at Auburn University. Justin is going to the University of South Alabama for his GIS certificate.
He says he became interested in a forestry career because “I’ve always wanted to work outdoors.”
His favorite part of the internship has been “working in the field and seeing different forest types.”
Spencer Gause is an FIA intern and a senior Environmental Studies major at USC.
He became interested in a career in forestry because he has “a passion for the outdoors.”
His favorite part of the internship is “being able to work in the Lowcountry.”
William Folk is an FIA intern and senior Forestry major at Clemson University.
He says he became interested in a forestry career because “I’ve always been around it my whole life and wanted to do a similar job as my dad (Piedmont Region East Unit Forester Chase Folk).”
His favorite part about the internship has been “the different places that I get to go and see as well as the people I have met.”
Luke Barnhill is an intern at Sand Hills State Forest and a senior Forestry major at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
He is interested in a forestry career because “I’ve always enjoyed outside activities and being outdoors.”
When asked about his favorite part of the internship, he said, “I’ve enjoyed inventory and cruising the most.”
