I encourage everyone to keep track of the next service mileage in their assigned vehicles. If you go over the threshold for your vehicle, State Fleet Management will know about it, and they can revoke your state vehicle driving privileges, or they can decertify our agency shops due to vehicle neglect. We don’t want to see any of that happen, so please adhere to these regulations.
Vehicle type
All state vehicles that hold fewer than 16 quarts of oil (SUVs, vans, pickups, etc.) must be serviced every 5,000 miles (+/- 500 miles) or 12 months, whichever comes first. I realize that most new vehicles will alert the driver when maintenance is needed and most of the time, that is well past the 5,000-mile mark. Please do not rely on the vehicle to tell you when maintenance is due. We are mandated by State Fleet Management to service the vehicles every 5,000 miles.
All vehicles holding 16 quarts of oil or more are to be serviced every 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. This includes all our transports and truck tractors. Most of these are scheduled for service each year at one of our shops.
Scheduling maintenance
When your vehicle is ready for an oil change, you can:
- Bring the vehicle into one of the agency shops for service
- Call State Fleet Management’s CVRP line at 1-800-277-3686. They will give you a PO number for a local service center where you can take the vehicle for service. When you drop the vehicle off at a commercial service center, tell them to bill State Fleet Management and give them the PO number.
