Time to Clean House: Get Ready for the Upcoming Shred Event!
It’s that time of year again! As we approach the end of summer, now is the perfect time to start reviewing your physical files and prepare for the annual Shred Event, tentatively scheduled for late August or early September. We’re working with Shred with Us to lock in the date—and we want to make sure you’re ready when the trucks arrive!
Why Record Destruction Matters
Proper record destruction isn’t just about saving space—it’s a vital part of maintaining security, protecting sensitive information, and staying compliant with state and federal retention policies. Holding on to records beyond their required retention period increases the risk of data breaches, clutter, and potential legal exposure.

What You Need to Do
- Start reviewing your files now. Go through your paper documents and separate those that are past their retention date and ready for secure destruction.
- Consult the Records Retention Schedule. This ensures you’re only discarding items that are eligible to be destroyed.
- Complete the ARM-11 Report on Records Destroyed. This form is required for all shredding and must be submitted in accordance with records management policy.
