The mission of the South Carolina Forestry Commission is to protect, promote and enhance South Carolina’s forests for the benefit of all. The Division of Communications & Public Information (CPI) supports this mission in many ways:
- generating media interest in and performing public relations for the agency;
- communicating emergency and emergency response information to the public;
- responding to inquiries from media and citizens;
- producing and maintaining all manner of public information about the agency for internal and external stakeholders;
- supporting SCFC personnel, programs, initiatives, campaigns and partners with strategic communications and planning;
- tailoring and delivering forestry-centered environmental educational programming for students, teachers and the public.
CPI staff are also known and referred to as the I&E team, short for Information & Education, the two sections under the CPI umbrella.
