Harbison State Forest staff recently installed new signage on the kiosks that greet visitors at the HSF parking lot. The six large panels are the products of more than a year of collaboration between SCFC Communications staff, HSF personnel and the Friends of the Harbison State Forest.
The displays include a large HSF map as well as trail and other wayfinding information; forest rules and regulations; an explanation of a working forest dedicated to multiple-use management; and descriptions of self-led educational programs at Harbison.
This effort concludes the multi-year HSF infrastructure improvement project during which the front parking lot was more than doubled in size, a self-serve pay kiosk was installed, directional signage was improved and railing was added to the shoulder to prevent cars from blocking the roads entering the forest.
