As announced last December, this year the Forestry Commission is transitioning from the paper-based employee performance management system (EPMS) it has used for decades to a new electronic platform called SuccessFactors Performance.
As part of this transition, the agency is shifting the universal review date from Jan. 1 to Oct. 1, changing the period of time that employees are evaluated by their supervisors each year to Oct. 1-Sept. 30.
The SuccessFactors platform, which will be hosted on the SC Enterprise Information System (SCEIS), will allow employees and supervisors to complete and acknowledge all stages of the EPMS process electronically. As we near October, all employees will receive a short-year review for the period of Jan. 1-Sept. 30, 2025 to move them to the new universal review date. Supervisors must complete short-year reviews of their employees no later than Sept. 30.
By now all employees should have completed the “Employee Performance Training” and “Employee Performance Plan” online courses in SCEIS’ MySCEmployee portal (supervisors also must have completed the “Employee Performance Management Training- Managers” course).
“Employee Performance Training” covered the foundational principles of the state’s employee performance management system, and the “Employee Performance Plan” course covered the specific tasks and activities involved in the Employee Performance Plan system action in the state’s SuccessFactors module.
The Department of State Human Resources launched the SuccessFactors Performance module the first week of August, which gives employees and managers two months to complete the Employee Performance Plan before the start of our new universal review date of Oct. 1.
If you have questions about the new EPMS process or the SuccessFactors platform, please direct them to your supervisor first; Human Resources Director Krista Emory and HR staff are also available to assist as needed.
