New employees
Andrew Herbert is a new Forest Technician at Manchester State Forest. Andrew started June 2 and lives in Manning. He attended Laurence Manning Academy and has experience as a heavy equipment operator for SCDOT.
Angel Jackson is a new Dispatcher in the Pee Dee Region. She started June 2 and lives in Hartsville. Angel attended Coastal Carolina University and has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology. She previously worked at Florence County DSS, CPS and was an investigator. In her free time she enjoys cross stitching, collecting pins and Disney. Angel has two cats, Oatmeal and Pickles.
Jamella Price is a new Dispatcher for the Pee Dee Region. Jamella started June 2 and lives in Florence. She attended South Florence High School and Central Carolina Technical College. Jamella previously worked at the Department of Disability and Special Needs of the Pee Dee and Pee Dee Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. In her spare time she enjoys going to school basketball and football games, knitting, reading and playing softball.
Anna Turner is a new Dispatcher in the Pee Dee Region. Anna started June 2. She lives in Hartsville and attended Wilson High School. Her previous work experience was at Nuclean. Anna enjoys spending her free time with her husband Gabe, son Noah and her two cats, Paul and Patrick.
Farewells
IMT/VFA Coordinator Leslie Woodham retired June 27 after 28 years with the agency. State Forester Scott Phillips presented Leslie with a framed certificate of service and a wooden gift box made by retiree Dean Carson.
Resource Development Director Tim Adams retired June 29 after 36 years with the agency. Both the Nursery & Tree Improvement Program and Environmental Program (BMPs), formerly under Tim’s leadership, will be moving under the umbrella of the Forest Management section.
Although Monaca Harrelson started June 2 as the Administrative Assistant for the Forest Management Section, she passed away June 13 following a sudden illness. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Reorganization
Both the Nursery & Tree Improvement Program and Environmental Program (BMPs), formerly under Tim Adams’ leadership, have been moved under the Forest Management section. Economic Development, Forest Resource Analysis, Forest Products Marketing and Forest Inventory & Analysis (FIA) have been retained in what is now the Forest Resource Development Section. All of these programs are now under the umbrella of the Deputy State Forester.

Baby Blakely Ryan Watts
Pee Dee Mechanic Cody Watts and wife Courtney welcomed their first child into the world June 10. Blakely Ryan Watts was born weighing 4 lbs., 8oz. After being in the NICU for a short stay because she was a few weeks earlier, Blakely and parents are home doing great!

Baby George Greenthaler
Coastal BMP Forester RJ Greenthaler and his wife, Charly, welcomed their second child. George Greenthaler was born on June 3, weighing 6lbs. 8.4 oz. and measuring 19 ½ inches long.
