The South Carolina Forestry Commission’s Insect and Disease Division, with the help of our foresters and technicians, has concluded the spring 2026 Southern Pine Beetle Trapping Survey.
Overall, numbers of beetles are down with only Saluda County showing possible activity. The number of clerid beetles, the predators that feed on southern pine beetle, are up this year. That is a good signal that southern pine beetle activity will be low!
